We are hosting our 3rd Annual Summer Book Fair on August 15th, 16th, and 17th. This event will be open to the public, where every family is invited to come and partake in the Book Fair on a ‘Pay-What-You-Can’ model by choosing a sliding scale donation amount in exchange for books. No child or family leaves empty handed! Access to reading materials can vary for children once the school year has ended. This is especially true in places considered to be “Book Deserts''. The staff at the Museum are passionate about ensuring that every child has as many opportunities as possible to bolster their reading skills and find joy in stories and books.
Every year we reach out to book stores, publishers, authors, businesses with community investment in mind, and community members to collect thousands of books (both new and gently used!) and get them into the hands of our patrons. We try and bring in a wide range of books from board books all the way through young adult books, in multiple languages, and across all genres. There are books for everyone in the family from the littles to the teens! This event is held in our upstairs picnic area and is free to the public, separate from entrance into the Museum itself. All ages are encouraged to come and pick out a book, and all level of donations are accepted with deep appreciation. Any donations collected during the Book Fair go right back into the funds for next year's Book Fair!
