Exhibits

Please touch Everything!

At the Children's Museum, exhibits are designed by education professionals (all former kids themselves) and are hands-on, participatory, exciting, and FUN thinking-doing-discovery activities.

When you visit, look for:

  • Hospital area including ambulance
  • Papermaking factory
  • TV Studio and FETCH!Lab
  • Fork-Lift Truck
  • Cityscape
  • Theater
  • Creation art studio

Educational text in each exhibit area offers suggestions to increase fun and learning.

The Curvy Climber

Children engage in complex physical activity exploring the wavy platform levels high above the exhibit floor—with the best views in the house! Designed by Thomas Luckey, it is a unique exhibit!

Curvy Crawler

How fast can you crawl through the tunnel?

Water Table

Our water table references the Holyoke Canal System and Connecticut River. Children can set “dams” in place, practice measuring, and watch water wheels turn.

Cityscape

A Child-Sized Main Street, featuring

  • Little Market
  • Observation Station
  • The Post Office
  • Do-Da Diner

The Scientific Company

Discovering the Physical Sciences

  • Frozen Shadows where you place your body in front of the photosensitive wall and "freeze" the image of your shadow.
  • MaxiRollways in which you design your own gravity maze! Move the colored slats around and discover the unlimited number of possible pathways for the golf balls to travel.
  • Giant Bubblemaker where you can make the biggest bubbles you've ever seen!

Tot Lot

This separate area is geared for the Museum's youngest visitors, aged 2 and under. Little ones enjoy returning to play here again and again; repetition and familiar surroundings are important facets

There are books and toys, all in a sunny, safe space with a terrific view of the canal and urban landscape right outside our building.
